春茄子って何よ？

新聞に入ってた八百屋さんのチラシ。
春キャベツの隣に書いてあったのが「春茄子」です。
春ナス？　ナスってのは夏から秋が旬なんじゃないの？

……と思って調べてみたら。

４月というのは「冬春ナス」の最盛期なんだそうで。
夏・秋のナスよりも固いけどみずみずしいのが特徴なんだとか。へー。
世間には「冬春なす主産県協議会」なるものまであって、この最盛期に合わせて４月１７日を「なすび記念日」に制定しているそうですよ。ほへー。

ことわざには「師走筍寒茄子（しわすたけのこかんなすび）」なんてのもあるのに、今やナスにとっては関係ないんでしょうかね。美味しいのはいいけど、なんか季節感が薄いですな。

で、その「なすび記念日」にはこんなイベントをやってたそうなんですけど……この最後の写真のキャプションに、かえってやましい妄想をかきたてられてしまったのは私だけでしょうか。

変なオチがついてしまった。
